Three days ago, I received an email alerting me that our domain—backslashlit.com—had renewed. Checking our Instagram archive, our first post was made May 15. Scrolling through the website's (first) GitHub repository, my initial commit was May 13. In other words, it's been a year.
This spring, we welcomed love poems written in code; art exploring the fusion of flesh and machine. I sought to assemble these pieces in a more immersive format, but should our classic layout be more accessible for you, you may view it here.
I'm beyond grateful for the Backslash editing team for helping me assemble this magazine, and for our contributors and readers for fueling it. Thank you for trusting us with your art and algorithms and aorta. May you find wonder in the <body> issue.
